My love for photography started when I was a kid, running around with my dad’s old film camera and capturing birds in the backyard. It wasn’t until 2009, when my first daughter was born, that I realized photography was more than just a hobby—it was something I wanted to pursue in a meaningful way and led to the launching of my own business: Dan P Photography.
Like many photographers, I started with families, kids, and headshots, but soon added food and restaurant interiors, which opened the door to commercial work. Real estate photography became my main pursuit when the pandemic hit and many of my other services were in less demand.
From 2018 through 2025 I’ve photographed homes for VHT Studios, working with agents, brokers, and homeowners across the Chicago area. For me, real estate photography is about more than just taking pictures—it’s about helping people tell the story of a home, whether it’s being listed, bought, or simply cherished.
My approach to business and people has been informed by many different job experiences—restaurants, retail, sales (even door-to-door, which I wouldn’t recommend to most people), and being a youth pastor. Each of those experiences shaped how I run my business today: with strong communication, adaptability, and a people-first mindset.
I grew up in the Chicago area and still call it home, where I live with my wife and our three kids.
